Making repairs

Stuart Elford
20/06/2006 , Barra

I have just spoken to Pete on the telephone and he has asked me to pass on the latest news (there is no broadband on Barra!):

The team are ready to make repairs to the boat. Paul has gone to the airport in a van loaned by a local builder to pick up the carbon/laminate repair man from Cora, who is here on behalf of the SeaCart manufacturers - Marstrom. They hope to be able to repair the minor damage and leave this evening, but they must make sure the repair is fully bonded before they go as they will be going out straight into a gale. However, the wind may be blowing old boots, but at least it is in the right direction if they leave in time. They also can cut back through the islands the way they came in, taking 30 plus miles off the next leg. Spirits are high and Pete and Paul just can't wait to get back out there and eat up the miles between them and the leaders and try to claw their way back into the lead. Anything can happen in this race, so watch this space for more news.

Go for it guys, we are all with you! Personally, I think the damage has only been caused by the weight of support - the boat was never designed to have so many people on board!
